Description: Cerro Negro (225 m elevation) is one of 4 very young cinder cones NW of El Hoyo-Las Pilas volcanic complex, Nicaragua, and belongs to the active Central Arnerican Volcanic Belt (CAVB), which includes a 1,100K m long chain of 41 active volcanoes from Guatemala to Panama. Ground temperature up to 707°C and visible emission of gas and steam are occurring through the main active fissures.
