| Description: | Taal Lake, is a freshwater lake in the province of Batangas, on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. The lake fills Taal Caldera, a large volcanic caldera formed by very large eruptions between 500,000 and 100,000 years ago. Previous studies have shown the existence of two main geothermal areas on the surface, one inside and another outside the Main Crater, which may be produced by the degassing of a huge hydrothermal system.The deep hydrothermal reservoir beneath Taal Volcano is a mixture of volcanic water, meteoric water, and seawater. The largest geothermal area is located on the inner northern part of Main Crater. |
